Lots to talk about

Alright.

It has been a minute since I have written anything.

This is not a total surprise as I have made conscious effort to actually study and do well in this last class of nursing school and I am still sitting on the fence of doing well and failing so go me.

What has happened since then:

  1. Did two interviews at different emergency departments

  2. accepted a job at a level one trauma center

  3. Decided I am going to move into the city

  4. girlfriend got rejected from a local city college for her masters leaving her with very interesting options.

  5. Learned a lot about the heart

  6. Potentially start my preceptorship next week.

“BUT JONATHAN” you ask, “I thought you were going to stay with Pineville instead of going to Main, what happened to that?'“.

Well, my non-existent audience member, it was a tough decision. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to learn more and gain more experience, which means I need to go to a place that has a much higher ‘ceiling’. I like watching the really terrible things (not in a sadistic sort of way but more of an internal curiosity of the pathology and treatment of certain injuries, diseases, malignancies, etc.) and the people that help treat them because there are so many things that have to happen for the person to stay alive and that is extremely fascinating to me.

I also really want to do some work in trauma. Trauma is one of those things that you see all of the time on TV and it’s like “oooooooooh I guess we are gonna do an open heart surgery in the middle of the street because this pocket knife is totally sterile and none of this would give you pancarditis and lead to your complete and total demise” and proceeds to stab. Trauma can be many different things like car accidents or falling down a flight of stairs, or a gunshot wound, or helicopter crash. I want to see all of that. I think it is super cool (again, not sadistically) and I want to help in these patient’s time of need.

I have big dreams and big goals.

I guess this year is a big step towards them.

Thanks for reading,

Jonathan
