Well it’s august

So it’s already august and the last time I wrote was in May. Since May, I have started my career as a nurse in the CMC ED and I am currently in my 5th week. I knew prior to entering Nursing and the ED that both hold a high level of difficulty on their own. So far, I have been told that I am doing pretty well for a new grad, which I agree with for the most part. The hard part so far has been learning how to sequence everything that is needed for all 4/5 of my patients. My preceptors have been great in that they encourage me while also giving me constructive feedback that helps me understand (somewhat) where I truly lie in the progression. I find that I am hypercritical of myself as I am with everything. In some ways, being hypercritical is a good thing because it makes me examine myself under a microscope. The downside is that I generally give myself very little time to truly learn without judgement; if I am not perfect within the first week, I generally feel as though I am not worthy.
